Women on Monday asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban certain breast implants that they say can lead to cancer. The FDA is holding hearings on the safety of textured breast implants amid evidence that the implants can lead to a form of cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphom (BIA-ALCL). According to NBC News, 457 women in the U.S. have been diagnosed with BIA-ALCL and each of the cases has been linked to textured breast implants. The textured implant is meant to keep implants from slipping and to minimize scar tissue, according to the Associated Press.
