A Manchester Metropolitan University student has been wowing Countdown viewers as he pulverises opponents with a series of record-breaking scores. Elliott Mellor, from Oldham , has already beaten the show's highest ever score of 150 - set in January this year - by posting 152 on Friday. Remarkably he bagged three nine letter words during the resounding victory. Elliot's been on the long-running Channel 4 quiz show since last Thursday, when he also got the highest ever debut score of 131. Last night the maths student solved the final conundrum in the blink of an eye, picking out the word computing in 'GIMPCOUNT'. Elliott's score of 152 on Friday's episode was the highest in Countdown history. It even had host Nick Hewer singing his praises. Full story
