A detailed assessment thorough a recently established EU shipping database has revealed almost 100 critical safety violations with the Japanese Bulk Carrier. The Wakashio ran aground on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius in August, spilling almost 300,000 gallons of heavy ship fuel oil along the coral reef coastline.
