Google sent out its annual employee survey on Friday, following a year of workplace turbulence and protest that had raised questions among some employees and outside observers on whether Google would phase out the practice. The survey, dubbed Googlegeist internally, has long been held up as an example of the company’s data-driven culture and founding corporate ethos of openness and information sharing. While the timing of the survey does fluctuate, this year’s Googlegeist was distributed slightly later than in some years — after the new year, instead of before it — which had spurred speculation about its end.
